Do we need a loyalty program?

As according to www.philstar.com

“We estimate that extending the length of a customer relationship by one year increases revenue by 45%. That figure jumps to 130% when the relationship is extended by three years. If usage of data services such as mobile internet connection is included, the revenue increase from an individual customer could increase by 240%.”

What is a loyalty program?

http://www.webopedia.com

“Loyalty programs may offer prizes, reward points, future discounts and other incentives designed to keep customers coming back and doing repeat business with you.”

From this we can conclude that loyalty program can be sum up with a simple equation Rewards = loyal customers.

However rewards alone do not make a loyalty program amazing. So what makes a good loyalty program?

• Choice of rewards. The more rewards the happier customers are.

• Ease of usage.

Which brings us back that at Gimmie, new rewards are introduced regularly and usage of the loyalty program is as simple as surfing and clicking for points.

From Manny Pacquiao to Lea Salonga, from the white sands of Boracay to the Pagsanjan falls, spell binding witch craft tales in Siquijor to old churches…

Welcome to the Philippines.

These are just some among the multitude of islands, things, cultures..etc that are making Philippines famous. At this point, you might be wondering if we are trying to do a travel feature on Philippines.

Absolutely not!

Philippines is fast booming to be the place for IT start ups to be in!

As such, Gimmieworld was given the amazing opportunity to attend istart@Philippines during the month of Jan –Feb 2013.

Attending a conference can be a great way to network and learn from people from similar industry and extensive networking and sharing was what we did.

The mentors Winstton Damarillo, Jerry Rapes, Nico Jose Nolledo, Miguel Perez, Enrique Gonazalez and Manny Ayala are amazingly packed with knowledge and all ready to share their experiences and knowledge with us.

We got loads of experiences from them on running a start up in Philippines and of course valuable insights from Mr Nico Jose Nolledo from Xurpass Inc on Digital and Mobile marketing in the Philippines and a presentation from Nestle Philippines on utilizing digital media for their business models.

Aside from that, we got perspectives on mobile marketing from the Ms Leah Camilla Besa Jimenez, Group head of Digital Media, Smart Communications (Telco Perspective) and online marketing perspectives in Philippines from Mike Palacios, Director of Havoc Digital agency, (Agency perspective)

On the other hand, the conversations and sharing sessions with the participants were immensely useful as we shared how we could potentially collaborate together with one another and get pointers on how we can further improve our businesses

Networking certainly brought Gimmieworld to another level and we certainly look forward to reap the benefits of another networking session.

iStart aside, our little team’s eyes were always on the look out for other loyalty programs while we were at the Philippines and we sparkled at some of the loyalty programs that are implemented at the F&B, retail outlets.. etc

Boogs Software works with a POS system along with a loyalty card program, it is pretty similar to most of the loyalty card programs we talked about in our previous blog

Jollibee, a fastfood outlet chain has collaborated with Bank of the Philippine Islands to produce – Happy plus card. Happy plus can be utilized at the fast food joints under Jollibee and consumer will get rewarded for every load up and to add on, a lucky draw or raffle entry for every amount topped up to Happy plus card. For example:

P100 = 1 raffle entry

P300 = 5 raffle entries

P500 = 10 raffle entries

P1,000 = 25 raffle entries

The usual loyalty program cards, the mobile loyalty card and a top up reward cards are just some of the dynamic ideas that are in the market. However, at Gimmie, we work differently. With years of research on loyalty programs, our program goes digital (card-less!), workable with not only food and beverages or retail outlets but also digital contents such as websites, online games, mobile games.. etc the possibilities of collaborations are simply endless.

With an endless form of collaborations, you might be all excited to work on and embark on a Gimmie journey with us. We say, hold it and read our next article on what makes a loyalty program successful or good.

What do Airlines, Hotel Stays, Retail outlets, Food and Beverage outlets and Banks have in common?

They all have loyalty programs tailored to their specific business needs!

Loyalty programs are not new to business owners and big players like airlines corporations are constantly improving their own in house program.

As a business owner you might just be thinking creating a loyalty program is as simple as having a bubble tea stamp card.

But then again with each brand giving a loyalty card, consumers are getting all lost with the tons of loyalty cards they have to keep in their wallets.

To add on, consumers want to be recognized by their favourite brand. Giving them an extra cup of beverage is no longer sufficient. So how do you keep your consumers interacted with your brand?

What’s in the purse?

A purse dedicated to fill up on the tons of loyalty cards!!! I bet there will be more to come ..

According to http://www.highervisibility.com/blog/how-to-increase-brand-interaction/

A new study conducted by Constant Contact that was done by the research firm Chadwick Martin Bailey confirms that people are using Facebook to interact with brands. The study looked at the behavior of 1,491 consumers in the United States, all of them aged 18 and older.

Here are some of the interesting points from the study:

1.More than half, 57 percent, wanted to learn more about discounts
and promotions

2.Of those that read the Facebook posts, about 17 percent will interact with them. About 13 percent will repost the update on their page.

3.Facebook can drive people to drive. About 51 percent said they buy a product after they become a fan.

Facebook does a great job of getting leads to your website and brand.

But does your website has the ability to keep them coming back and increase the interactions they have on your site?

And won’t it be great to retain these leads driven by the Facebook budget spent hovering on your site instead of Facebook?

We will touch on what makes a good or bad interactive website in our next blog post.
The post Another loyalty card/program please? appeared first on Gimmie.

Gimmie makes loyalty fun by providing game and website publishers tools to create their own frequent flyer mile like program to reward top users. The company is now based in Singapore and working with a new set of local Investors. Previously, Gimmie managed to raise US$200,000 from lead investor Tandem, a mobile industry incubator in Silicon Valley.

Equipped with the experience, David will be sharing more about how Singapore startups should go about raising funds in the United States and why he is excited about the startup scene in Singapore. So if you are interested to know more about the funding landscape in the States, you should definitely join us at our Founders Drinks this month. This will also be a good time for e27 to meet and mingle with the community, and vice versa.

Other than the usual sharing session, there will be a group of Taiwanese startups visiting Singapore and looking to meet with the local community. Do keep an eye out for an updated post on the profiles of these Taiwanese startups who will be at Founders Drinks this month.

For those who wants to share about anything, there will be a 15 minutes open mic session after David’s sharing. Three minutes will be given to each attendees who want to share at our Founders drinks.

We’ve been here now for two weeks. We’re met some really interesting startups and found some new friends along the way.

Will have much more to say. Here are just a few of our initial observations.

The Startup Scene has really picked up. In particular we’ve been keeping up with E27 Meng Wong and crew’s JFDI forum Open Frog and StartupDigest Singapore We even met the Lean Startup team.

A lot of startups are really global. I’ve meet founders from across Asia, US, and Europe all here. I honestly feel although the Bay Area has many different people coming there from around the world you get mostly those focused on the US and get sucked in to that. Here it’s pretty cool to see many people working on regional and pan Asia products, and not just copying from the Valley either.

Government Investment opportunities are plentiful and IDA and MDA can be very helpful. It’s good that the schemes attract many different investor groups here also. Navigating and understanding them and the investor scene here does take some getting used too. We will have a later post on fundraising here.

Wifi in public places is pretty bad. A couple of good spots are the Exchange at Asia Square(ask for PW) and coffee bean at ION. SG wireless is very slow in the malls.
